Terms and conditions

This is a translation. Only the German version is legally binding.

1. Scope

These terms apply to the use of Dolmi (website and app at dolmi.ch), operated by Kai Schnider (“provider”). With your first translation or purchase, you accept these terms.

2. Services

Dolmi translates between German and Spanish, between German and English, between German and Portuguese (Brazil) and between German and French:

• text, audio and video files, with a spoken translation (MP3), translated text and subtitles (SRT);
• live in video calls, as a spoken translation through a virtual microphone and as subtitles;
• in face-to-face conversations, with the translation spoken and shown on one device.

The translation and the voices come from an AI (Google’s AI services). Translations may contain errors and do not replace a certified translation. The provider aims for uninterrupted operation but does not guarantee continuous availability.

3. Account

Your account is created with your first translation and can be accessed through a cookie and a personal access link. You are responsible for keeping the access link secret. Anyone who knows the link can use your balance.

4. Credits

Services are billed in credits: 1 credit equals one minute of audio or video, or 900 characters of text. One minute in live mode or in a face-to-face conversation costs 2 credits; the time in which Dolmi translates speech is counted. To try the service, the first 60 seconds in live mode or in a face-to-face conversation are free of charge. Before every file translation, Dolmi shows the credits needed. Credits are not transferable and cannot be paid out in money.

5. Subscriptions

Subscriptions run monthly and renew automatically for a further month. At the start of each period, Dolmi adds the subscription’s credits. Subscription credits you don’t use expire at the end of the period and are not carried over. You can cancel the subscription at any time for the end of the current period, through the customer portal in your account.

6. Packs

Packs are paid once and do not renew. Their credits are valid for 12 months from purchase. If you buy another pack, your entire pack balance is valid again for 12 months from that purchase. After that, unused pack balance expires without compensation.

7. Prices and payment

The prices in Swiss francs shown on the website and in the app at the time of purchase apply. Payments are processed by Stripe, with the payment methods shown at purchase (currently card). The provider announces price changes for running subscriptions at least 30 days in advance. In that case, you can cancel for the end of the period.

8. Refunds on errors

If a translation fails for technical reasons, Dolmi automatically refunds the credits used for it. If a live session or a face-to-face conversation is interrupted by a technical error, only the minutes translated up to that point are charged. Further refunds are only made where the law requires them.

9. Permitted use

You use Dolmi only for lawful purposes. In particular, you may not:

• deceive others, for example by passing off an AI translation as your own voice or by pretending to be someone else;
• translate conversations without the knowledge of the people involved, where the law requires their consent;
• upload unlawful, offensive or third-party protected content for which you do not have the rights;
• disrupt the service technically or query it automatically on a large scale.

Tell the participants of a call or conversation that Dolmi is translating it. In the event of violations, the provider may block the account.

10. Liability

The provider is only liable for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, to the extent permitted by law. The provider is not liable for decisions you make on the basis of a translation or for the consequences of translation errors.

11. Privacy

How Dolmi handles your data is described in the privacy policy.

12. Changes

The provider may amend these terms. Changes affecting existing subscriptions are announced at least 30 days in advance.

13. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is the provider’s registered office. Mandatory places of jurisdiction for consumers remain reserved.
