You buy credits: every month with a subscription, or once with a pack. 1 credit translates one minute of text, audio or video; one live minute, in a video call or a face-to-face conversation, uses more credits. Trying it costs nothing: the first live minute is free.

What is a credit?

In video calls and face-to-face conversations, only the time in which Dolmi translates speech counts. A pause in the conversation costs nothing. Before every file translation, you see how many credits it needs, before you pay. All language pairs cost the same: German ↔ English is priced like German ↔ Spanish, German ↔ Portuguese (Brazil) or German ↔ French.
Three examples
- A 12-minute interview, translated from German into English and read aloud, needs 12 credits. With the Start subscription, you then have 68 of the 80 credits left for the month.
- A video call in which you speak for 20 minutes with translation needs 40 credits. Pack M, with 100 credits, covers 2 calls like that.
- A flat handover at the table, with Dolmi translating for 10 minutes, needs 20 credits. With the 80 credits of the Start subscription, that’s 4 conversations like that a month.
Paying and cancelling
- You’ll be able to buy soon. We’re switching on subscriptions and packs right now. Until then, you can try it for free and, if you like, we’ll email you as soon as you can buy.
- Subscriptions are paid by card. They renew every month, and you can cancel any time for the end of the current period. Subscription credits you don’t use expire at the end of the period.
- Packs are paid by card. They don’t renew and are valid for 12 months from purchase. If you buy another pack, your whole pack balance is valid for 12 months again.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Dolmi never sees your card details.
- If a translation fails for technical reasons, the credits go back to your account automatically.
